PulpFixin

Better Materials Only Matter If They Perform.

Science cannot compromise on performance. Any new material has to meet the same expectations for precision, compatibility, handling and workflow reliability before it earns a place in the lab.

PulpFixin engineers laboratory products that reduce unnecessary plastic while protecting the requirements scientists, lab managers and automation systems already depend on.

Better materials create the opportunity. Proven performance makes adoption possible.

Plastic Isn’t the Enemy.
Default Thinking Is.

Plastic helped transform modern science and remains essential in many applications. But decades of adoption also made it the automatic material choice for products that may no longer require it.

PulpFixin asks a more useful question:

Does this product still need to be made this way?

Where the answer may be no, we engineer around the application and determine whether a better material can meet the standard.

PERFORMANCE COMES FIRST

Performance You Can Measure.

Laboratory materials are only better if they perform where science demands it. AutoRack® has been evaluated across dimensional accuracy, cryogenic storage, repeated freeze/thaw cycling, barcode durability, mechanical handling and material performance to demonstrate that molded fiber can meet demanding laboratory requirements.

Testing to date shows strong dimensional consistency for automation, structural integrity through ultra-low-temperature exposure, reliable barcode readability through repeated cycling, and secure mechanical performance under load. Independent third-party testing by the University of Dayton Research Institute has also evaluated chemical resistance, nuclease contamination and wet-strength characteristics—providing a growing body of data behind the product, not just sustainability claims.

Dimensional Measurements Passed

Across 30 production AutoRacks, every measured tube-pitch position fell within the proposed 9.00 mm ±0.25 mm tolerance, with zero out-of-tolerance readings.

High Dimensional Capability

The 30-rack dimensional sample produced a Cpk of 2.47, well above the 1.33 benchmark commonly used to indicate a capable process.

Barcode Scans Passed

Across four AutoRack SKUs, 60 freeze/thaw cycles at both -196°C and -20°C produced a 100% barcode-read pass rate with zero recorded failures.

Fully Loaded Drop Test

A fully loaded AutoRack was dropped from six feet onto a solid floor, and the lid remained secured to the base under mechanical shock.

DIMENSIONAL PRECISION

9.0052 mm mean vs. 9.000 mm nominal.

BARCODE DURABILITY

100% scan success across the 480-cycle verification series.

CRYOGENIC PERFORMANCE

Tested through exposure at -196°C, -80°C and -20°C with no observed degradation, warping or delamination.

INDEPENDENT MATERIAL TESTING

UDRI testing returned negative results for both RNase and DNase contamination, with valid positive controls.

Better materials should not ask science to accept less.

PulpFixin is building its product platform around measurable performance, documented testing and transparent validation, including the limitations that matter. Because sustainability may create the reason to reconsider plastic, but data is what gives laboratories confidence to change.

Change the Material.
Not the Workflow.

Performance is only the first hurdle. For better materials to scale, they also have to fit the equipment, formats and operating procedures laboratories already rely on.

PulpFixin develops products around established workflows wherever possible, helping organizations reduce unnecessary plastic without creating unnecessary disruption, retraining or process complexity.

  • Automation-compatible formats
  • Established tube and rack dimensions
  • Familiar handling
  • Minimal workflow change

Products Prove the Platform.

Different applications. One development philosophy.

Pipet TipRack™

Better material systems for selected manual and automated liquid-handling workflows.

AutoBox™ + AutoSleeve™

Sample-management solutions for organization, identification and handling.

Cryogenic Boxes

Fiber-based storage products developed for defined low-temperature applications.

Built Into the Systems Science Already Trusts

PulpFixin has agreements with Azenta Life Sciences, Micronic and LVL Technologies to bring bundled sample-management solutions to market that pair their established 2D tubes with PulpFixin AutoRacks. These relationships validate more than the product itself — they show that leading tube manufacturers see customer demand for lower-plastic solutions and are willing to integrate PulpFixin directly into the systems they already sell.

By combining proven tube technology with a better-material rack, these partnerships create a practical path to adoption: customers can reduce unnecessary plastic without changing the sample format, workflow or supplier ecosystem they already rely on.

Their Tubes + AutoRack = Lower-Plastic Sample Management

Recognized for Innovation. Validated by Industry.
